Three worked examples of a career evidence check
By Telokind · A practical resource
These teaching examples use fictional workplace aliases. They illustrate how to fill a record and choose a check; they are not accounts of real participants or evidence of career outcomes. The method explains E, O, F, I and Q. Use the blank file for your own situation.
1. A course and the actual tasks
Starting action: spend ten evenings on a customer success course before exploring an entry role.
A mid-level employee at Workplace A describes drafting renewal messages during one recent week. Record that as E with the workplace, level and period. An entry role description at Workplace B lists ticket triage, onboarding and escalations: F, once its actual URL, date and wording are recorded.
The difference is a question about task mix and level. It is not proof that either employee or vacancy represents the entire occupation. Choosing a short writing exercise would be I, a proposed practice task, not an employer assessment.
Next check: pause the ten-evening commitment and compare two current employer pages for similar entry roles in the target region. Allow up to 45 minutes and no spending. Record the links and checked dates.
- If relevant entry roles include renewal work, try a short original practice message before reconsidering the course.
- If their task mix differs, choose a closer small task.
- If suitable sources are unavailable, preserve Q and defer payment rather than assuming the course fits.
The output is a task comparison and a revised small action, not a job-readiness score.
2. Senior advice and today's junior requirements
Starting action: spend four weekends on a portfolio to enter a junior analyst role.
A senior employee at Workplace C describes how they entered in 2016: E for that account and period. Advice to follow the same route is O. A current junior employer page is F for that employer's stated requirements, once checked against the original.
Keep the historical route separate from the current requirements. A portfolio can be a useful practice output without meeting every actual entry requirement. If a credential rule is relevant, check the applicable official authority rather than filling the gap with the senior account.
Next check: compare two current junior role pages in the target region, with a one-hour ceiling and no spending. Record which requirements are stated, which differ, and which remain unanswered.
- If the actual comparable roles accept a suitable portfolio, choose one small portfolio task first.
- If an important requirement is missing from your background, identify that gap or another entry role.
- If wording needs clarification, keep a specific Q and defer the four-weekend commitment.
The output is a current requirement comparison, with the older account retained in its original scope.
3. Hours that were not answered
Starting action: pay for a training place after confirming that the target role's working hours fit.
Contact C chooses not to discuss the team's schedule. Record the declined answer as a reported interaction, E; the actual hours remain Q. It does not establish long hours, flexibility or suitability.
Choosing to inspect a public employer page is I, a research step. When an appropriate current source states the hours, record that wording and scope as F. A general occupation profile cannot guarantee a particular contract's hours.
Next check: pause payment and use up to 30 minutes, with no spending, to find a relevant public employer or vacancy page. Record the link, date, role level and hours wording.
- If the source states compatible hours, make one small check about the particular role before reconsidering payment.
- If hours conflict, revise the plan.
- If hours are omitted, keep Q and stop the session at the limit. Do not assume the condition is met.
The output is a schedule condition that is either supported, contradicted or still open. Compatible hours alone do not establish that training is suitable.
Write your own next check
Choose the closest example, then replace its assumptions with your own scoped record. Write a date you can use, a time or spending ceiling, and the action for each possible result. Afterward add the actual result without deleting the earlier record.
